I’m not sure anyone loves a theme party more than I do. Not kidding. Celebrating a birthday? Love it. Does it honor someone special? Bonus points. Do you get to dress up? Call me. (Seriously- Call me.) The only thing close to generating as much excitement from me about being invited to a glamorous party (photoshoot included) is being asked to create an invitation for one.
When Winston-Salem photographer Jodie Brim and I spoke about her vision for a party to celebrate her mother’s latest milestone birthday, her direction was clear: “Mom is EXTRA and so are her friends!” Jodie wanted the invitation to let her mother’s friends know this was meant to be a glamorous party befitting its honoree’s sense of style and love of all things that shine. I enjoyed every moment of working on this invitation for Jodie and her mother. We decided on a touch of antiqued gold foiling for the card and custom envelope liners that had a gold marble effect. We finished the invitation off with addresses done in calligraphy with gold ink.
I hope each of the ladies who received these invitations was delighted when she opened her mailbox that day, and the guest of honor was celebrated with the level of glam she deserved. Jodie was kind enough to send a few pictures of the birthday girl and her friends from the day’s photoshoot. It looks like the day was a special one. I was thrilled to have even the smallest part of it.
